Ida is expected to be an extremely dangerous major hurricane when it reaches the coast of Louisiana on Sunday with a possibility of life-threatening storm surge inundation and potentially catastrophic wind damage. New Orleans, LA – In preparation for a potential storm entering the Gulf of Mexico, leadership at the Flood Protection Authority – East (FPA) is closing several gates within the flood protection system.
